Kathleen Booth

Kathleen Hylda Valerie Booth (July 9, 1922 - September 29, 2022) was a British computer scientist known for her pioneering contributions to the development of early assembly languages and computer programming systems. She worked at Birkbeck College alongside Andrew Donald Booth, where she helped develop some of the first electronic computers and created software for their operation. She is particularly known for writing one of the earliest assemblers and for her research in pattern recognition and early machine translation. Her work helped lay the foundations of modern programming and software architecture.
